Following my marriage in 1983 I relocated to my husband's home in
Haverhill, Massachusetts. While there I worked at a variety of jobs
including real estate sales with the King Davis Agency, YMCA fitness
and swimming instructor, Y's Way to a Healthy Back instructor, YMCA
front desk clerk, Tac Temps temporary office services, and seasonal
data entry work for the IRS.
On a volunteer basis I wrote, designed layout, published and distributed a condo owner's association newsletter.

new YMCA building was under construction by using schools, churches,
and other public facilities,
- interviewed and hired all program staff, managed personnel matters
concerning that group (10 to 25 part-time staff and volunteers), held
periodic staff training and regular staff meetings,
- initiated the association's first staff evaluation procedure,
- restructured and improved the YMCA sponsored 10K Monza Run,
- initiated the association's first successful Youth Basketball
Association. Organized it, promoted it, conducted coaches' and
officials' training workshops,
- worked in all areas of public relations—public speaking
engagements, radio and television appearances, wrote news releases,
pre-recorded public service announcements, did layout and design of
seasonal program brochures, flyers, and supplemental program

- designed 1/4-mile indoor fitness trail for employees of local hospital,
- organized and established a Medical Advisory Committee for YMCA fitness programs,
